Layouts ACTUALLY done!!!

Unbelievably, this weekend I actually worked on "the list".  It's been about ....mmmmumble...mumble..years since I actually sat in the craft room and actually scrapbooked.  I would have to sit and really think when that might have been...

SO anyway, Niki and I utilized the "Facebook Rooms" to have an open video line between Ohio and Maryland on Friday night....and I finished a two page layout...woot woot

And that worked so well, we did it again on Saturday night.  And I finished 1 event, 4 pages (2 layouts)

We hung out in our "Room" again on Sunday but I didn't get anything scrappy accomplished,,,,except wait...blogging on Scraptastrope!!  So. WOOT! Worked on 3 goals!

So on our list:

Layouts done 3/143  140 to go

Virtual Crop a Quarter 1/11 10 to go.

Blog weekly on Scraptastrophe Studio 2/143

Lets see how long we can ride this wave!

Happy 2017...lets do this!

If you follow me here, I'm pretty sure you follow me over on the Homestead blog, so I won't rehash all the various goals that need to be completed before September of this year (YIKES!)  Here I'll just focus on what needs to be completed to finish up the scrapping goals.

In working on my faithbooking concordance, I discovered a bunch of my older articles from when I was one of the designers on Faithfully Yours.  Also, tons of my class descriptions and things.  So I've dusted them off and will revisit them this year.

About a month ago, my family and I toyed again with the idea of opening a scrapbooking retreat.  We found the PERFECT property (except that it had been robbed of all the copper, so had no plumbing, heat, electrical...so not QUITE perfect.)  I haven't yet given up on the idea.  I do feel like maybe I keep trying to open a door that God has closed, but haven't deard a resounding slam.  (maybe I'm delusional and it was a huge slam, but it's a hard dream to give up on) so you might here a mention here or there this year about Memory Lane Lodge (I found all of my paperwork from the Sugarcreek lodge we got within days of opening...)

To start the year off, I have scheduled a once-a-month "My Legacy" Bible Studay and Crop. Each month has a different theme that we will look at and then have time afterwards to work on our scrapbooks/faithbooks.  I haven't bought a lot of the newer tools, but I still have tons of the older "toys" Cricut, quikutz, sizzix.

January 21 Documenting your spiritual goals / resolutions
Feb 18 God is love and He answers prayers
March 11 Spring is a time of vibrant growth
April 1 Easter, the resurrection and  our gift of eternal life

I have the themes for the rest of the year, but haven't yet scheduled them as I don't yet know what the summer festival season, growing, CSA farm work is going to look like.  But I am committing to myself to spend this time every month.  I hope that some of my friends would like to come along for the journey.

As time permits, I have lots of other classes that did for JoAnns, Scrap Camp, and the studion that I would liek to work on again.  One of which is the Rudolph days.  That is when each month on the 25th we do a project that can be used as a Christmas gifts.  This includes a two part class called year of memories, altered composition books.  Mom mini albums, dad mini albums, and Card classes.  Let me know if any of these sound like something you'd like to do and we can schedule it!

The "Other" Crafty list....

Yes, so if getting a zillion scrapbook pages done wasn't enough for my spare time (my what?!?) I have a few other crafty goals...

  • I have a big counted cross-stitch project that I have been working off and on for (I am NOT kidding) since 1990.  It's maybe 1/2 to 2/3 done.  I want to have it done by the end of 101.  So my plan is to work on it at least once a week-current goal is either 2 hours or 1 square inch completed.
  • Finish the scarf I started crocheting last Christmas.  Of course, I'm going to have to relearn how to do it.
  • This year is the "Craft N Cash" Christmas.  Every 25th of the month, I plan to sit down and write a paragraph of what has happened that month...then in November when it's time to write the Christmas letter, it is already done.  Also, I want to find an easy crafty project off my Pinterest to do each month and possibly do a tutorial, or at least share the project.  If you are on my Christmas list, you'll have to pretend to be surprised.
  • Also, the tentative plan currently is to have a Open Farm / Craft Show in October to promote "Buying REALLY local!" with a few friends (If you want to have a table, let me know.)  So I want to start making stock for that.  Already I have one project that I gave a few people this year:

    • This is a dishtowel angel, I've seen them on Etsy for $17.50.  I am going to have mine priced at $6. Variety of colors and designs, will even do a custom colors for $7.50

I "stole" this picture from my Tennessee Bestie
This was her angel (and Chocolate)
    • Also I will be putting up at least 400 jars of food this year, many will be jams and jellies to be sold. $4 each (half-pint) or 2 for $7.
This is all I can think of right at the moment.

The scrapbooking list...

The plan is to do a whole year (plus some) of pictures EVERY.MONTH.  However, I tend to do similar pages at the same time so I am doing a month from each of the last 13 years.

Also, I will be having a few friends over every month to do some scrapbooking (this takes care of a few things on the 101 list) and keeps me more accountable.  Plus my room will have to stay clean!! Wanna come?

Also, want to do another "Scrap Weekend", probably in May and/or October.  Wanna come?

I'm not going to list out every month, but below is an example for February:

February
January 12
February 11
March 10
April 09
May 08
June 07
July 06
August 05
September 04
October 03
November 02
December 01

Plus:
February 00
December 05
May 12

We were pretty systematic about figuring it all out and the notebook page that it is written out on is fun to look at!  I am realistic enough to know that I am not likely to get everything done.

Realistically: I'd like to get at least one layout done for each of the months on the list.
Unrealistically: 5 done for each month on list
Out-of-Control: All of them done for each month (Average 10 each)

Some months/years have much more completed than others.  Some months don't have any pictures...say the summer I was basically unconscience waiting for surgery, or the two months around when I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. But then there are months (like since moving to the farm) where there is 20 potential pages.

I tend to take a really long time on my pages.  I don't do the "becky higgins" project life.  Or the premade type of pages. (Not that there is anything wrong with them) but this is something that makes me happy.  Wanting to get alot done does kinda go against the whole "this is my relaxing hobby" mindset.  But I have a sense of urgency to get this accomplished (and not just because it is on some random list).

There is also a special book that I am wanting to get done for our son.  And an anniversary gift I have in mind for my Sweet Hubby.

Then there is the other "crafty" list.....

Reasonable....unreasonable...and out of control!

Well, I typed this up once and then lost it....let's try again

I have a BIG goal for my scrapbooking this year.  I have 329 days left of my 101 challenge.  And one of the points is to "Get my scrapbooking plan done."  Well, I've made plans numerous times.  I am great with the list, but not so awesome with the execution of said plan.  But I need to really get it done.  I've made a new plan with the logistical help of my kid, and my cousin came over and helped get all my books re-sorted. (Pages were randomly in books, now they are somewhat chronological-at least by year.)

I've spent the last 4 days listing all the different "events" over the years and what account they are uploaded on.  (Yes, multiple online places--what was I thinking?!?)  Now going through the pictures to get them in somewhat of an order to see what still needs to be printed....

Last January-April, I spent really going through my scrapbook stuff and room and it is still FAIRLY neat.  (Not as neat as it was.)  So I will be spending today getting the tree down and the Christmas stuff all packed away.  Looking at the room to see what I can put away in there, and then going through pictures more.

The plan....well,

The plan is actually quite out of control.  I am shooting for out-of-control, secretly hoping to at least get to the unreasonable, but expecting at least I can do the reasonable.  (But when have I EVER been reasonable, really??)

It seems to accomplish my goal, I need to do about 100 layouts per month (which is actually 200 pages).  Or 25 per week....umm....5 per day....Not including the other "special" projects I also would like to do.  This would be fine, if I weren't running, oh say, a farm or homeschooling a teenager or was completely healthy....or didn't have OTHER goals in the areas of canning, organization, fitness......

Anywho...1200 layouts....Out-of-Control
                 600 layouts....Unreasonable
                 300 layouts...Reasonable.

OH, an I want to blog here to keep myself accountable.  Hmmm.....let's see how this goes.

Progress...welcome to my shame...

Before I only posted the closet picture because it was the neatest area in the homeschool/scrapbook room.  Yes, sad.  I was so ashamed I didn't want to post pictures.  I didn't want to be that "honest"  I guess it's time to "man up."  Here it the scary truth:

Corner

Hush, 'colie- I don't need to hear anything more about the keyboards and random computer equipment!!

Corner
In progress.  That big pile of stuff are things that are going into the Three Bags Sale or the Curriculum Fair (or Craigslist...or something....somewhere...NOT here, with a smidge of monetary compensation if possible, please!)

OMG!  The homeschool / scrapbook table.

Homeschool / Scrapbook Table
And actually, more has been done since yesterday when this was taken.

OK, I guess I didn't take a before picture of this area.  It's a good thing too.  It was bad.

And this is the current challenge. Yes, they are boxes that haven't been unpacked (in 3 years). I realize, if I haven't needed it yet, then I likely don't need it.  But I haven't ventured to do any scrapping in the 3 years we've been here, so it's not the greatest argument...right?

But the best is seeing how the boxes are labled.

Ah, yes, Random!

Stay tuned!

Challenge #2 Progress...

Sort at least 8 inches of paper....well here's 13 inches:

The before picture (I'd love to say this is all that needs to be sorted....but that'd be a lie!)
Progress on this challenge has been slow...it seems that "life" just keeps getting in the way....HOWEVER....I did get my "sorting system" set up..

My helper stuck with me for almost 90 minutes before getting bored (and wandered off to get HIS scrapbook supplies to paw through!)

It is time to do chores, so everything is stacked up for the next session...

The after picture:

Down to 3.5 inches and these are all "packages" rom when I was selling Leaving Prints.
